I am officially designating today (or what's left of today) as Amelia Earhart day! It was on this date in 1932 that she flew across the United States, becoming the first woman to ever do so. Not only was she a kick ass pilot, but she was also a kick ass woman.
Amelia Earhart was a pioneer and a leader in the ongoing fight for women's equality. She competed in a man's world and succeeded beyond anyone's imagination. Her untimely death only enhanced her legacy. However, we can all agree that had it not been for that fateful flight, she would have pushed the boundaries even further for women. We all owe her a very big thank you.
